Texas Woman’s University celebrated the dedication of the expanded Mike A. Myers Stroke Center at its Dallas campus on May 14, honoring a transformative $2 million gift from Dallas businessman and philanthropist Mike A. Myers. The event included remarks from Mr. Myers, TWU leaders, and current and former stroke patients who shared how the center’s expert, interdisciplinary care—provided at no cost to patients—has impacted their recovery.
The center was renamed in 2024 by the TWU System Board of Regents in recognition of Myers’ generous support. His gift has helped expand research, patient and family services, and inter-professional training opportunities for students preparing for careers in healthcare.
The Mike A. Myers Stroke Center provides specialized outpatient care for individuals recovering from strokes, brain injuries, and other neurological conditions. It also serves as a training ground for TWU students in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, family therapy, nutrition, and other disciplines. Working under expert supervision, these student clinicians deliver complementary, coordinated therapies as part of an integrated care team—thus benefiting both community health and advancing professional training and collaboration in health care.
