Regents approve promotions, tenure at May meeting

The Texas Woman’s University Board of Regents approved promotions and tenure recommendations at its quarterly meeting conducted May 15 via videoconference due to the COVID-19 crisis. Faculty promotions/tenure, effective Sept. 1, are:

 

College of Arts and Sciences

Associate clinical professor Shazia Ahmed (biology) was promoted to clinical professor.

Assistant clinical professor Amy Jo Hammett (biology) was promoted to associate clinical professor.

Assistant professors promoted to associate professor and awarded tenure were:

  • Dayna Averitt (biology)
  • Christopher Brower (biology)
  • Gretchen Busl (English, speech & foreign language)
  • Alex Colvin (social work)
  • Ratonia Runnels (social work)

Associate professors promoted to professor were:

  • Mark Hamner (mathematics & computer science)
  • Colby Parsons (visual arts)
  • Jian Zhang (mathematics & computer science)

 

College of Business

Assistant professors Jennifer Flanagan (management) and Sandra Murdock (health care administration, Houston) were promoted to associate professor and awarded tenure.

 

College of Health Sciences

Associate clinical professor Claudette Fette (occupational therapy, Denton) was promoted to clinical professor.

Assistant professors promoted to associate professor and awarded tenure were:

  • Kevin Becker (health promotion & kinesiology)
  • Kelli Brizzolara (physical therapy, Dallas)
  • Christina Bickley (physical therapy, Houston)
  • Jennifer Ellison (physical therapy, Houston)

Associate professor Gail Poskey, PhD (occupational therapy, Dallas) was awarded tenure.

Associate professors promoted to professor were:

  • Tamby Allman (communication sciences & oral health)
  • Erika Armstrong (communication sciences & oral health)
  • Jyutika Mehta (communication sciences & oral health)

 

College of Nursing

Associate professors Rita DelloStritto (Houston) and Wyona Freysteinson (Houston) were promoted to professor.

Professor Rebecca Keele (Denton) was awarded tenure.

 

College of Professional Education

Assistant professors promoted to associate professor and awarded tenure were:

  • Mellissa Brown (human development, family studies & counseling)
  • Aaron Elkins (library & information studies)
  • Aaron Norton (human development, family studies & counseling).

Associate professor Annette Torres (literacy & learning) was promote to professor and awarded tenure.
