Falley tapped to oversee undergraduate studies

Veteran educator Brandi Falley, PhD, has been named interim dean of Undergraduate Studies.

Falley, who assumed the role on Aug. 1, brings to the new position a distinguished record of leadership and a deep commitment to undergraduate education. She has held several key positions within the College of Arts and Sciences, including division head, associate director of the School of the Sciences and interim associate dean for the College of Arts and Sciences.

In each role, she has provided strategic guidance in areas critical to undergraduate student success, including developmental education, supplemental instruction, and faculty preparation for the upcoming launch of First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs), said Angela Bauer, executive vice president for Academic Affairs and provost.

“I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Falley as interim dean of Undergraduate Studies. Brandi is widely respected for her collegial, data-informed, and pragmatic approach to leadership,” Bauer said. “I’m confident she will advance our goals of enhancing student success and strengthening undergraduate education at TWU.”

Falley has been a long-standing contributor to the teaching and assessment of TWU’s core curriculum, which is considered key as the university begins reexamining its core curriculum and seeking ways to enhance student outcomes.

Additionally, her six years on the Undergraduate Council provides her with an in-depth understanding of curricular processes and shared governance, Bauer added.
