TWU puts focus on health, fitness in February

In February, attention turns to hearts – and heart health – but it’s a good time to think about your overall health as well. Texas Woman’s has programs to help you put the focus on fitness.

TWU Fitness and Recreation is partnering with the Health and Wellbeing Initiative to create TWU Moves, a six-week physical wellness program. Faculty, staff, and students can track their fitness progress and overall wellbeing using the TWU Moves Scorecard to earn prizes.

The program initially was targeted to students, but due to increased interest from faculty and staff, the program now is open to all. Visit the TWU Moves web page to register and for more information, including instructions for each campus and online participants.

When it comes to the heart, many factors influence our health, including:

  • Physical activity levels
  • Nutrition
  • Stress levels

Your annual preventive visit is a great way to check in and learn more about what’s going on inside and how to achieve your best health.

To learn more about heart health or your wellness benefits, register for any ERS-hosted webinars this month by clicking on the ERS Wellness Events Calendar.

In addition to the ERS wellness events, The Employees Retirement System of Texas and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) invite you to a new monthly webinar series, 8 Things You Need to Know About Your HealthSelect Medical Plan.”

Keep logging your fitness time in through the Get Fit Texas Challenge. Taking time for physical activity is one of the best things you can do for your mental, physical, and heart health.
