The Women’s Thought Leadership Program (WTLP) will host a panel discussion, “Thought Leadership as Advocacy,” at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 13, in ACT 301 on the Denton campus and via Zoom. The event is open to all members of the TWU community on each campus.
The panel features representatives from North Texas organizations whose work advocates for and empowers formerly incarcerated Texas citizens. Panelists include:
- Andre Johnson, Tarrant County Reentry First Stop Center
- Sharon McKinney, Texas Incarcerated Families Association
- Algernon Smalley, Dallas Leadership Foundation
- Rick Davis, Chains of Grace Ministries
The panelists will discuss the most pressing issues facing these communities and how their organizations lead the way in service and action.
The WTLP at Texas Woman’s is a multi-pronged program aimed at helping students take the knowledge and skills developed while earning their degrees and translate them to the public while also teaching different ways to enhance and communicate their credibility as though leaders. The program is funded by the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership.
