Instructors sought for UNIV 1231

Want to contribute to a critical step in retention efforts at TWU? Do you have a master’s degree? Consider teaching a UNIV 1231 (First Year Experience) section in the fall.

UNIV 1231 uses research and theory of learning, cognition, and motivation, along with the application of learning strategies, to positively influence college student success. Courses meet one day a week.

Instructors for UNIV 1231 are paid $1,000 per course, but it is in addition to your normal workload.

The UNIV Instructor Application is now online via SharePoint, on workflow.twu.edu under Undergraduate Studies. You will be prompted to log in with your TWU credentials, and once you complete the application you should receive an email confirming the submission.

There are multiple opportunities for UNIV training this year:

  • Canvas training will be offered this summer at multiple times for the university. If you are new to Canvas, you will want to attend this training (as well as one of the course training).
  • Course training (everyone will attend a course training, even if you attended a Canvas training) will have two offerings, Friday, July 16 and Friday, Aug. 13. RSVP invitations and availability confirmation surveys will be sent out at a later date.

The FYE Ambassador application is also available. This is a paid position for students ($300 per semester).

Contact Rebecca Fredrickson at rfredrickson@twu.edu or Elizabeth Brown at mbrown36@twu.edu if you have questions. They will be setting up one-on-one meetings with applicants.
