TWU basketball's Ashley Ingram was named the Lone Star Conference's recipient of the NCAA's 50th Anniversary Scholarship, worth over $1,000. The recipients were recognized during the opening ceremonies at the Division II Festival on Monday in Orlando, Florida.
In celebration of its 50th Anniversary, Division II awarded 46 scholarships, honoring one male and one female from all 23 conferences and independent institutions.
According to the NCAA, the commemorative scholarship is awarded to student-athletes who "exhibit the core values of Division II."
The $1,000 scholarship honors student-athletes who have "exemplified the division's Life in the Balance philosophy through high-level athletics competition, academic achievement, campus involvement and community engagement."
Ingram maintains a 3.863 grade point average in her pursuit of a degree in kinesiology with an occupational therapy focus. For her success in academics, Ingram was named a College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American – the first in TWU history.
