  • Occupational therapy faculty members Francie Baxter and Patricia Bowyer are contributing authors for a new occupational therapy book, Adaptation Through Occupation: Multidimensional Perspectives. The book “provides in-depth perspectives of occupation and adaptation that can be used to teach courses on foundational and theoretical perspectives in occupational therapy and occupational science undergraduate and graduate programs, and as a critical module in teaching neuroscience to occupational therapy students."
  • Rita DelloStritto (nursing) and several students in the nurse practitioner program had their article, “Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy: A discussion and Case Study,” published in the Journal of American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
  • Wyona Freysteinson’s (nursing) article, “A Study of the Amputee Experience of Viewing Self in the Mirror” was chosen by the editors of Rehabilitation Nursing Journal as their one article selection for inclusion in the International Academy of Nursing Editors (INANE) Virtual Journal 2018. The INANE Virtual Journal was released during the organization’s conference Aug. 6-8 in Boston. Freysteinson also was among those asked to present at the International Philosophy of Nursing Conference held Aug. 23-25 in Galway, Ireland.
  • Under the mentorship of Sandra Murdock (HCA), two TWU MHA students, Cathy Phan and Kalia Aparicio, were awarded $5,000 scholarships for their essay submissions from the Gulf Coast Chapter of ACHE.
  • Mindy Patterson (nutrition and food sciences) was recently awarded the College of Health Sciences Scholarship Award.
  • Peggy Landrum (nursing) will serve on the discussion panel as the TMC Health Policy Institute releases the results of their 4th annual national survey, scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12  at Third Coast Restaurant. The survey, which provides insight into the public’s perception of health policy issues, aims toward shedding light on how the views of everyday citizens could shape health policy decisions of the future. The event is free to the public and includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres. However, you must RSVP to attend.
  • The College of Business is bringing the Wise Women and Wealth conference to the Houston campus from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 with a focus on helping women better understand money and how to make wise financial decisions.
