  • The TWU community offers its condolences to the family and friends of Joan DeVilbiss, who passed away April 12, 2018. DeVilbiss retired from Texas Woman's University's College of Nursing faculty in 1996, having served as an assistant professor for 29 years. She was a charter member of the Beta Beta Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau, the International Nursing Honor Society and was awarded Outstanding Member of the Year in 1995 by the Beta Beta Chapter.
  • Mindy Patterson (nutrition and food science) has been selected as a finalist for the Emerging Leader in Nutrition Science Poster Competition for the American Society for Nutrition’s (ASN) annual conference being held Saturday, June 9, in Boston. The poster competition highlights the very best research submitted by students and young investigators to Nutrition 2018. Patterson’s study is titled “Impact of leptin and ghrelin on body composition, exercise dependence, and satiety in female collegiate runners and inactive females.”
  • Coordinated by Christina Bickley (physical therapy), a pediatric equipment fair will take place from noon to 5 p.m. today, May 2, in the Legacy Room (8th floor). Students, faculty and staff from any program are invited to attend and learn more about the equipment through hands-on activities.
  • Student Life needs your help for the upcoming Family Graduation Celebration Wednesday, May 9. Several volunteers are needed from 5:30-7 p.m. This special event highlights the need for family support for our students and allows those students to say thank you to their littlest supporters. Students' children are given their own cap and gown to decorate before the event and will “walk” with their parents to receive their own “diploma.” Please contact Deb Unruh if you are available to help.
  • TWU's Center for Women in Business is proud to welcome Disney's Approach to Leadership Excellence to The Woodlands. The event will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 7 in The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center. This one-day business course explores how to develop leadership skills to establish and sustain your organization's values and vision.   • The Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society Beta Beta Houston chapter inducted new members and installed officers Friday, April 27. Current president Wyona Freysteinson tapped in new faculty member officers Leslie Nelson, vice president, Rebecca Aulbach, treasurer and Ann St. Germain, junior counselor.
  • Five Houston College of Nursing retirees were honored at a party at Rebecca Krepper's house Saturday, April 28 with more than 60 people in attendance. The five faculty who were recognized were Anne Koci, Rae Langford, Lene Symes, Charlotte Stephenson and Miguel da Cunha.
  • The Houston campus Service Awards & Retirement Recognition ceremony will  take place at 1 p.m. today,  May 2, in the Houston Endowment Auditorium, second floor (2120). A full list of recipients is available online.
  • Staff Council representatives Jinlan Du (technology) and Melissa Rodriguez (admissions) organized a Pioneer Proud event recognizing all TWU Houston staff members who received recognition in this semester’s Pioneer Proud program Tuesday, May 1.
