  • State Rep. Victoria Neave will discuss her personal story and the need for more women in politics during a “Women in Politics” event at 10 a.m. Monday, March 5 in ACT 301. The event is free and open to the public.
  • Vicki Baker (music) was elected vice president and college division chair of the Texas Music Educators Association, an organization of more than 12,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education. Baker will serve a two-year term.
  • Daniel Rodriguez has joined the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Outreach as the new Mobile GO Center coordinator. Rodriguez served as a student orientation leader, peer advisor for housing and a G-Force Mentor as a student at TWU.
  • Jörg Waltje (Center for Faculty Excellence) has been recognized as a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, an internationally renowned standard of professional competency for those who teach and support learning in higher education, backed by a worldwide conglomerate of more than 230 universities and colleges.
  • Aubree Evans (Center for Faculty Excellence) will present her research, “Optimism and College Completion,” at the e-Learning & Innovative Pedagogies Conference March 2 at St. John’s University.
  • Ronald Davis (kinesiology) presented “Understanding the Structure and Organization of Adapted Sport at the Local, National and International Level” as an invited lecturer to occupational therapist assistants at Parker University in Dallas.
  • Lin Moore (family sciences) co-presented research and moderated six sessions during the National Association of African American Studies & Affiliates Joint National Conference Feb.12-17 in Dallas. Moore presented “Parents’ Perceptions of Their Involvement in their Children’s Education and Their Future Expectations” with TWU alumna Sandra Morales, and “An Investigation of Resilience in Head Start Children and Their Parents” with TWU alumna Ronniesha Bivens and doctoral candidate Fara Bostic.
  • Celia Lo (sociology) and doctoral student William Ash-Houchen presented a paper, “The Role of Stressful Events in Illicit Drug Use: A Longitudinal Study of the Transition from Adolescence to Young Adulthood” at the American Criminal Justice Sciences annual meeting Feb. 13-17 in New Orleans.
  • Jonathan Olsen (history and government) published an article, “The Left Party in the 2017 German Federal Election,” in the journal German Politics.
