  • October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the TWU community is invited to celebrate and honor those who have been impacted by breast cancer. The Pink Promises Breast Cancer Awareness Walk will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the gardens in front of the Fitness & Recreation Center. Following a half-mile walk around the north end of the campus, participants will have an opportunity to honor breast cancer survivors.
  • TWU will host the 4th Annual North Texas Adapted Physical Education Conference Oct. 12-13 in Pioneer Hall/Fitness and Recreation. The conference is designed for teachers in adapted physical education, general physical education and/or special education. Other service providers for adapted physical education also are invited to attend. For more information, contact Lisa Silliman-French.
  • Ally Training, sponsored by TWU Counseling and Psychological Services, will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 in Fitness & Recreation Studio 2. The interactive, daylong workshop is held each semester as part of a nationwide effort to provide support to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual/agender (LGBTQIA) students, faculty and staff. Register by Monday, Oct. 8 at the Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) office in West Jones Hall or call x3801. Space is limited.
  • Greg Gengo (Institutional Research & Data Management) was invited to be the keynote speaker for the 2018 EMIR conference Sept. 13-14 in Tokyo. The conference is Japan’s largest enrollment management and institutional research conference. Gengo’s presentation, “Modernizing IR: Empowering Users and Best Practices,” highlighted changes happening in TWU’s institutional research office with regard to building the university’s institutional data warehouse empowering users with the ability to visualize institutional data and supporting data-driven decision making.
  • Suzanne Burns (occupational therapy) has been named this year's winner of the Stroke ISIG Early Career Poster Award for her poster, "Popular mHealth Apps for Adults Living with Stroke: Review and Content Analysis."
