  • Feeling creative? Help name our newest building! The nearly completed brick structure on Oakland Street between East 3rd and Sawyer streets needs a name that is quintessentially “TWU,” and we invite your ideas.  In addition to nearly 600 parking spaces, the building also will house our Office of Human Resources, Department of Public Safety, a student testing center, student lounge with dining options, and even outdoor patio space.  We anticipate it will be a busy place—so we hope you can help us come up with a memorable TWU-inspired name!
  • The Mobile Food Pantry will be in the Jones Hall East Parking Lot between 11:30  a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20. The pantry provides free fresh produce for students, faculty, staff and community members.
  • Just Write for Faculty and Staff begins again Friday, Sept. 21. These sessions provide an opportunity to step away from your normal routine and focus on your writing in a supportive environment. All sessions are in the Center for Faculty Excellence, Stoddard 308. Bring your laptop, tablet, etc. for writing. You can attend either the morning session or the afternoon session, or both! Please RSVP to save your spot.
  • The Student Union Office is now selling discounted tickets to the State Fair of Texas! General admission tickets are $13.50 through the Student Union Office and may be used for yourself or your family and friends. Stop by the office in Student Union 209 to buy your tickets today.
  • Congratulations to Ahmet (Meti) Tmava (library), whose dissertation has been featured as one of eight "Notable Dissertations for 2018" by American Libraries Magazine — the magazine of the American Library Association. The selected dissertations take into account a variety of methodologies and are chosen for having practical implications for libraries and relevance to current issues with measurable recommendations for change.
  • Rosemary Candelario (dance) has published “The Routledge Companion to Butoh Performance,” the first book of its kind on butoh.
  • Ilana Morgan’s (dance) article, “Arts Education and Citizenship: A Pedagogical Framework,” was published as the featured article in the Journal of Dance Education.
  • Deena King (compliance) was invited to speak at the national conference of the Association of College and University Auditors (ACUA) Sept. 12 in New Orleans. Her session, “Auditing Risk Management Using the New 2017 COSO Enterprise Risk Management Framework,” included some positive things TWU is doing in this area as well as techniques on how auditors could strengthen risk management programs at their own schools.
  • Philip Yang (sociology) and TWU sociology doctoral alumna Maggie Bohm-Jordan published “Patterns of Interracial and Interethnic Marriages among Foreign-Born Asians in the United States" in a peer-reviewed open access journal Societies 2018, 8(3), 87.
