  • A memorial service for Linda Caldwell, retired TWU professor of dance, will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 16 in the Little Chapel in-the-Woods. The service will be live streamed through a Facebook Event for those who cannot attend.
  • Celebrate Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 18 and join other TWU colleagues for a Bike to Lunch event! The ride to a lunch (about 10 minutes each way) of tacos includes a discount for arriving by bicycle. Register for the TWU Lunch Ride by noon Thursday, May 17. (TWU login required.) If you don’t own a bicycle, you still can participate by using one of TWU’s new maroon rental bikes and borrowing a helmet from TWU Fit & Rec. (Limited supply, first-come, first-served.) To use a maroon rental bicycle, follow instructions and download the “Spin – Ride Your Way” app BEFORE the 11:30 a.m. departure time. A helmet is required to participate.   • Holly Hansen-Thomas (teacher education) will join the College of Professional Education dean’s office as associate dean for scholarship and research effective June 1. This half-time position will enable COPE to increase efforts to pursue externally funded opportunities and to support faculty in their scholarly efforts.
  • Karen Dunlap (teacher education) has been named Reviewer of the Year for the Mentor and Mentoring Journal.
  • Carmen Cruz (Counseling and Psychological Services) co-presented a workshop, “Multicultural Considerations for Clinical Supervision,” at the bi-annual Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers Membership Conference May 3-5 in San Antonio.
  • Manuela Picariello (kinesiology) will represent TWU with her research project, “Organizational environment and mentoring: Challenges and opportunities for female executives in the National Basketball Association (NBA)” at the 2018 World Congress of Sociology of Sport June 7 in Lausanne, Switzerland.
