  • Homecoming is just around the corner, and golf cart drivers are needed to transport visiting alumni to and from events around campus. If you’re interested in volunteering, sign up for  Friday, April 12 and/or Saturday, April 13.
  • The Photographic Artists Coalition (PAC), a Department of Visual Arts student organization, will hold a headshot fundraiser from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-7 p.m. Friday, March 29 in room 307 of the Fine Arts Building. Costs range from $35 to $65, and payment is due at the time of the session. Cash, card and check are accepted. Email pactwu@gmail.com to schedule a session or for more information.
  • The final Maroon and White Luncheon for Spring 2019 will take place at noon Tuesday, April 2 at Outback Steakhouse, 300 S. I-35 East. Lunch is served for $5 and includes a Q&A with coaches and staff.
  • You’re invited to the grand opening of the new Graduate Study Space from 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 on the third floor of the Blagg-Huey Library. Tour the new space and enjoy light refreshments. Carolyn Kapinus (Interim Provost) and Suzanne Sears (libraries) will provide remarks.
  •  Texas Woman’s and Project INVEST will sponsor a Veterans Run-Bike-Roll event Saturday, April 6 at South Lakes Park, 556 Hobson Lane in Denton. Registration and sign-in are from 7-8 a.m., with a 3K Fun Run/Walk beginning at 8:30 a.m.; a 3K bike ride beginning at 8:35 a.m.; and a 1.2K wheelchair “roll” at 8:45 a.m. There’s no cost to participate, but donations are welcome. Register today, or if you need more information, contact Ron Davis at rdavis4@twu.edu or x2589.
  • Mahesh S. Raisinghani (business) has received IGI Global’s 2019 InfoSci-Journals Distinguished Fellowship Award for his ongoing work as editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Web-Based Learning and Teaching Technologies (IJWLTT). The honor goes to an editor-in-chief who has exhibited a record of success in raising citation, visibility and scholarship of their journal. IGI Global will feature Raisinghani and the journal will be featured at the American Educational Research Association conference April 5-9 in Toronto, Canada.
  • Rene Paulson (Center for Research Design and Analysis) received the Outstanding Alumnae Award from Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc., Rho Lambda and the Ohio University Women’s Center on March 20. The award is given to celebrate the achievements of women connected to Ohio University.
  • Celia C. Lo (sociology) and TWU sociology alumna Andrea Laurent-Simpson co-authored “The Social Construction of an Emerging Infectious Disease: Perceptions of Zika Virus on the United States CDC Facebook Page,” forthcoming in Sociology of Health & Illness.
  • Shannon Mantaro (Center for Women in Business) wrote a column, “Make time to network for business success,” published in the March 20 Denton Record-Chronicle.
  • Laura Shackelford has joined TWU as director of the Career Connections Center. She previously served as senior associate director of the Career Center at the University of North Texas, and in the University Career Center and the David Eccles School of Business Career Center at the University of Utah. She specializes in institutional and community collaborations, as well as assessment.
