  • Reminder: University head shots will be taken in the ACT second-floor lobby from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 and from 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28. If you need an official university photo, head on over for a head shot!
  • Multicultural Women’s and Gender Studies and the Women’s Studies Graduate Student Association will present Policies, Politics, and Reproductive Justice Wednesday, March 6. The event includes a fair featuring community resources related to reproductive health and rights, which will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the Student Union second floor. An expert panel of scholars, activists and medical providers will present a Q&A from 4-6 p.m. in CFO 202. The public is invited to attend these events. The panel discussion also will be available via livestream.
  • Registration is open for the annual Ally Training sponsored by TWU Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). The training will take place 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, March 22 in Student Union 207. The interactive daylong workshop is held each semester as part of a nationwide effort to provide support to LGBTQIA students, faculty and staff. Space is limited, so register by Monday, March 18 in the CAPS office in West Jones Hall or calling x3801.
  • Michelle Buggs (undergraduate academic programs), Jörg Waltje (Center for Faculty Excellence) and Noah Lelek (theatre) presented “Starting Fresh: Strategies for Revamping the First-Year Experience Seminar” at the 38th Annual Conference on the First-Year Experience, held Feb. 16-19 in Las Vegas. They provided an insight into current research, shared specific elements of the redesigned TWU FYE program (aka UNIV 1231) and identified areas of curricular challenges with an eye toward future improvements.
  • Mahesh S. Raisinghani (business) accepted an invitation to serve as a member of the X-Culture Advisory Board (XCAB). X-Culture is a collaborative effort of dozens of instructors around the world to provide experiential learning opportunities in their international management/business courses.
  • Ellina Grigorieva (mathematics) returned Feb. 24 from a Mathematical Association of America (MAA) board meeting on math competitions. The three-day meeting, held in Washington, D.C., teamed Grigorieva and nine other MAA board members to select the best problems for future American Invitational Mathematic Examination (AIME) contests.
