  • In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the office of Diversity, Inclusion and Outreach and the office of Civility and Community Standards invite the TWU community to share their dreams on a mobile “DREAM” board. Stop by the Student Union between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. today or 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday to build a collage of words that represent purpose and an ideal future and inspire positive change.
  • Chancellor Carine M. Feyten will host a farewell reception for Destinee Waiters (general counsel) beginning at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22 in the Stoddard Hall lobby. The university community is invited to attend.
  • Would you like to take part in an amazing cultural experience? Homestay hosts are sought for the Fulbright Korean Teachers of English two-week residency in partnership with Denton-area schools and TWU. Hosts are needed to house the guest teachers Feb. 2-16. Homestay hosts receive a $450 stipend per guest teacher hosted. Some teachers have pet allergies or other concerns, so potential homestay hosts should have small pets or no pets, and no large dogs.   • Did you know that TWU’s community music and dance centers offer affordable lessons to children, teens and adults in the Denton area? Classes are taught by faculty members or graduate students, who gain hands-on teaching experience while earning their degrees. Registration for spring classes is open, so check out the Community Music Center or the Community Dance Center website.

  • Mandy Stewart (reading) wrote a commentary on the importance of diversity in Congress that was published Jan. 9 on the Dallas Morning News online portal.
  • Mikyoung Lee (nursing) co-wrote an article with a national big data nursing workgroup that was published Jan. 4 in JAMIA Open. The article covered the group’s assessment of risk prediction and segmentation models that focus on whole populations.
  • Suzanne Burns (occupational therapy) co-authored an article, “Community Vision Interventions for Adults with Acquired Brain Injury,” with post-professional OTD student Jaimee D. Perea and colleague Mary Anise. The article was published in OT Practice, 23 (20), 20-24.
  • Husny Amerih (occupational therapy) conducted a workshop, “Occupational Therapy Roles in Shoulder Examination and Intervention,” Dec. 19 at Jordan University of Science & Technology (JUST), one of the Middle East’s leading universities in teaching and research.
