  • The next session of Professor’s Corner will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at the Denton South Branch Library, with Gretchen Busl (English) presenting “What’s in a Narrator?” The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
  • Biology faculty Shazia Ahmed and Deepani Tennakoon, along with neuroscience doctoral candidate Namrata G.R. Raut, wrote “Engaging the Entire Learning Cycle to Ignite Enthusiasm and Learning,” which was published in the Jan. 7 issue of Faculty Focus.
  • Shannon Mantaro (Center for Women in Business) wrote a column on the need for employee engagement in business for the Dec. 19, 2018 Denton Record-Chronicle.
  • Mahesh S. Raisinghani (College of Business) has co-authored two manuscripts — “Predictive Analytics: Key Applications for Strategic Alignment and Agility” and “Analyzing and Realizing Project Benefits: Key Insights and Recommendations from an Organizational Perspective” — accepted for presentation and publication in the proceedings of the Western Decision Sciences Institute 2019 conference scheduled March 5-10 in Los Angeles.
  • Congratulations to Abby Morris (libraries) on being awarded an Association of College and Research Libraries 2019 Early Career Scholarship to attend the 2019 ACRL Recasting the Narrative national conference April 10-13 in Cleveland, Ohio. This prestigious award allows complete funding for Morris to collaborate with information professionals around the globe; discuss her current research, service initiatives and library projects with international peers; and obtain continuing education from renowned information professionals.
  • Kudos to Rhonda Gorman (theatre) on winning the Irma P. Hall Black Theatre Award for Best Scenic Design for a Musical. Her award-winning design was for “A Motown Christmas” at the Jubilee Theatre in Fort Worth. Gorman also was nominated for Best Costume Design for a Musical for the same show. Amy Poe, who won Best Scenic Design for a Play, will join TWU Theatre this spring as guest designer and adjunct instructor of lighting design.
