While COVID 19 has been quite a challenge, this time period has provided new opportunities for students to explore creative ideas and connect to new audiences. They have had to find the interdependency of flexibility and persistence when working in-person with dancers. As the pandemic continues, working with dancers’ bodies not only serve as a site for creative ideas, but builds movement worlds that asks audiences to engage and respond to the humanity of each performer. “A Return to the Stage” serves as an invitation to audience members to find comfort, perspective, escape, and/or joy in each student’s creative world.
Adjudicated by two faculty members, one graduate student representative, and two undergraduate student representatives, the concert is produced under the direction of Faculty Producers Elisa De La Rosa and Mary Williford-Shade.
