Do you work with a professional staff advisor who works with undergraduate or graduate students or a faculty advisor who works with undergraduate students who has made an impact on you, your department, and/or students? Nominate them for an Academic Advisor Award!
Nominations are open for the Outstanding Academic Advising Award, the Innovation in Academic Advising Award, and the Outstanding Program Award. Nominations are due by 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 4. Awards will be presented to the winners at the Academic Advisor Awards ceremony in May.
The Outstanding Academic Advising Award recognizes effective advising qualities and practices that distinguish the recipient as an outstanding academic advisor or faculty advisor, including:
- Demonstrates a caring, helpful attitude toward students
- Provides accurate information regarding university academic requirements
- Makes themselves available and accessible to students, faculty, and staff
- Engages in practices that promote and support developmental advising
There are three subcategories for the award:
- New Advisor of the Year
- Advisor of the Year
- Undergraduate Faculty Advisor of the Year
Nominate a staff or faculty advisor for Outstanding Academic Advisor.
The Innovation in Academic Advising Award recognizes demonstrated results that improve advising practices introduced by an individual advisor or an advising team by using technologies, processes, or administrative approaches. This could be a new form, improvement/creation of website, collaboration with a department to streamline a process, or other ways in which the end goal is to improve advising processes and/or eliminate barriers to student success.

The Outstanding Program Award recognizes one college-specific or cross-departmental program in a workshop-type setting where the audience is current TWU students and the goal is to promote student retention, success, or completion.
