Record-breaking success at TWU’s e-waste roundup

The Information Security team, in partnership with the TWU Sustainability Committee, is proud to share that this year’s E-Waste Recycling Roundup was our most successful event yet.

Despite a day of rain and wind, the TWU community, the greater Denton community, and surrounding areas showed incredible support. We achieved our highest turnout to date, along with our largest volume of e-waste donations and strongest community engagement. Community members and campus participants alike came out in record numbers to responsibly recycle their electronic waste.

This success is a testament to the power of collaboration and awareness. Thanks to our partnership with the Sustainability Committee, we saw a significant increase in participation and outreach this year.

By diverting electronic waste from landfills, we not only helped protect the environment but also reduced potential data security risks associated with improperly discarded devices. Events like this highlight the important connection between sustainability and cybersecurity.

Our next E-Waste Recycling Roundup is planned for October in recognition of Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

We’re excited to build on this momentum and bring together even more participants to support safe, secure, and sustainable electronic waste disposal.
