IT Solutions is advising TWU faculty and staff to plan ahead for upcoming technology purchases due to anticipated computer chip supply shortages. Based on industry projections, hardware shortages may occur mid-year, which could significantly increase lead times — in some cases up to six months from order to delivery.
To help ensure equipment is received within the current fiscal year, IT Solutions strongly recommends that departments initiate purchasing requests as early as possible to avoid potential delays.
Tejas Quote Expiration Update (Effective February 16)
Effective February 16, all Tejas quotes for non-standard or bulk orders of HP laptops and computers now carry a 14-day expiration period, reduced from the previous 30 days. This change is due to ongoing pricing volatility caused by computer chip supply shortages. Quotes for monitors, printers, and other peripheral devices continue to have a 30-day expiration period.
Please note: The 14-day period begins the day the quote is generated by IT Solutions, including weekends.
Reminder: If departments are purchasing three or fewer computer setups (up to six monitors and three laptops/desktop computers) through the Tejas Punchout catalog on a single purchase requisition, an IT Solutions quote is not required.
