Cybersecurity Awareness Month a success

IT Solutions hosted a month full of cybersecurity activities during October. During the month:

  • Information Security successfully launched TWU’s first phishing tournament. The overall pass rate was 97%, with each participant correctly identifying at least one phish or not acting on at least one simulated phishing email.
  • A total of 1,026 lbs. of electronic waste were responsibly recycled from university departments and academic components during the TWU Asset E-Waste Event. Hard drives and tapes containing confidential and sensitive data were physically destroyed and office equipment such as phones, printers, and scanners were recycled and saved from landfills.
  • The second annual Cybersecurity Awareness Month Trivia game welcomed more than twice as many participants as the year before.

IT Solutions encourages all faculty, staff and students to reflect on the messages from this year’s campaign and embrace healthy online habits throughout the year. What you do online has the potential to affect everyone – at home, at work, and around the world. Cybersecurity is everyone’s responsibility. Practice good habits today to protect yourself and your communities.
