Efforts by Texas Woman’s University to increase student voter registration and participation in elections have earned the university a spot among Washington Monthly magazine’s list of America’s Best Colleges for Student Voting 2020.
Texas Woman’s was listed among 157 schools described by the magazine as “the schools doing the most to turn students into citizens.” Criteria for making the list included:
- Submitting an ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge action plan in 2018 and 2020
- Signing up to receive National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement data about campus registration and turnout rates
- Making the data publicly available
According to the article, the 157 schools on the list represent an increase of 18 schools from the previous honor roll, released in February, and almost twice the number that made the list last year.
