As the nation prepares to celebrate Veterans Day, there are numerous events in Denton, Dallas, and Houston designed to pay tribute to all who have served.
In Denton, an hourlong Veterans Day ceremony will start at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 11, at the downtown Courthouse on the Square. Representatives from TWU will be among the speakers at the event, which is free and open to the public. Several communities in Denton County also have events scheduled.
In Dallas, while there won’t be a Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade, the City of Dallas has declared that Veterans Day will henceforth be a city holiday. A number of other events are scheduled throughout Dallas-Fort Worth to celebrate the day.
Houston, with the second largest veteran population in the nation, will hold its annual “Houston Salutes American Heroes Veterans Day Celebration” beginning at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 11. Areas around Greater Houston also have a number of events planned.
