TWU website highlights special events in May

The month of May is chock-full of events – so much so that the Texas Woman’s University website currently features four tributes:

Commencement

The Commencement 2021 website features information for TWU’s drive-thru graduation celebrations. (Ceremonies for Denton/Dallas graduates are scheduled Friday, May 7, and Saturday, May 8 at Texas Motor Speedway. The Houston ceremony was held Saturday, May 1, at HCSS. Photos from all ceremonies will be added at a later date.)

Also check out the chancellor’s commencement message, a congratulatory video featuring TWU mascot Oakley, and highlights of some 2021 graduates.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teachers always work hard, but let’s face it — the COVID-19 pandemic brought additional pressure this past year. College of Professional Education Dean Lisa Huffman wrote an opinion piece that called for grace for teachers. A link to that opinion piece is on the website, as are recognitions of two TWU alumni who were named Teachers of the Year by the Denton Independent School District.

Also, if you know of anyone who is considering a teaching career, or a current teacher interested in enhancing their career, the website points out flexible online options at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month

Texas Woman’s University is proud of its position as one of the most diverse institutions of higher education in the country. The website celebrates the contributions of our Asian American and Pacific Islander faculty, staff, and students.

Nurses Week

The Nurses Week 2021 website recognizes the great work nurses are doing across the country and provides highlights of three faculty members who represent a small portion of the entire TWU nursing faculty across the Denton, Dallas and Houston campuses. The site also pays tribute to Nurses Week 2020 with some of the heroic stories from last year.
