TWU celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

They’ve followed their passions to the halls of Congress, a famous television show and restaurant, a career in higher education, and more. They’ve climbed mountains, literally and figuratively, to get where they are.

Notable TWU alumni share their stories in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15-Oct. 15. As a Hispanic-Serving Institution, Texas Woman’s has long valued the diversity of thought and traditions our Hispanic students, faculty and staff bring to the university.

The profiles also include the late Selena Quintanilla, a legendary singer and entertainer. Though she is not a TWU alumna, she does have a place of honor on the university’s Denton campus — she was inducted into the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame, which is housed on the second floor of the Blagg-Huey Library, in 2016.

TWU’s Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Outreach, along with its campus partners, is hosting a variety of events to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Learn how to Salsa, Merengue, Samba and more, or learn about different topics in Cultural TALKS and Dialogues on Race and Social Inequalities. See the featured events on the DIO home page. All programs will take place via Zoom. Contact Ebony Pope at epope@twu.edu for more information.
