Texas Woman's prepares for return to campus in fall

Texas Woman’s University faculty, staff and students are expected to return to campus the week of Aug. 9, according to a recent message to the community from Provost Carolyn Kapinus. The provost did note that, while many have been vaccinated or are getting vaccinated, “we expect to continue wearing masks in the fall.”

Other key takeaways from the message include:

  • May commencement ceremonies will take place at Texas Motor Speedway for Dallas and Denton graduates and at the HCSS Business Campus for Houston graduates. Officials hope to return to the traditional commencement format in December
  • Confirmed COVID-19 cases with campus impact continue to decline; currently there are no students in quarantine or isolation on campus
  • The August 12-13 Board of Regents meeting is expected to be in person on the Denton campus
  • In-person meetings planned for Aug. 9 or later will no longer require Risk Management and vice president approval
  • Travel is expected to resume for the 2021-2022 academic year, including conference-related travel and travel between campuses

“We continue to monitor the situation regarding COVID-19 and variants,” Kapinus noted. “If community levels of the virus are such that we will not be able to go forward with these plans safely, we will adjust accordingly. Although the TWU community has become very adept at functioning in an online environment, I know many of you are looking forward to being able to interact with colleagues and students in person.”
