Summer 2020 orientation programs move online

Texas Woman’s orientation programs for summer 2020 have been moved online in an effort to ensure the university continues to promote social distancing and to prioritize student safety:

  • Registered orientation students will enroll in an online orientation module through Canvas.
  • The module will be available mid-May through August, and students will be able to complete the online orientation module at their own pace.
  • The modules are accessible through a hand-held device to accommodate students who have limited access to technology.
  • Additional accommodations can be made on a case-by-case basis.

All efforts are designed with student success at TWU in mind.

After completing the brief module, students will transition to academic advising. Advisors will assist students with course selection and registration.

The Center for Student Development Team is creating opportunities for students to gain meaningful interactive and engaging experiences through several alternatives, including:

  • Engaging through social media, google classroom, and additional virtual opportunities.
  • Allowing for one-day, drive-in sessions in July to provide an on-campus Pioneer experience through interactive sessions and tours.
  • Providing additional online services and programs through the summer for students, parents and guests that contain pertinent information for the upcoming fall semester.
  • Expanding Pioneer Camp (TWU's version of Welcome Week) in August to engage students and provide additional information and resources.

Summer courses that begin May 11 will be offered fully online. TWU will monitor official health and safety guidelines to evaluate whether limited face-to-face courses — including labs and practicums — can be provided.

No university-wide decision has been made concerning Fall 2020 classes.
