Nominations open for Texas Women's Hall of Fame

The Texas Governor’s Commission for Women has opened nominations for the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame. Nominations are open to any native or current residents of Texas, living or deceased, who have made significant contributions that have benefited the state of Texas.

TWU houses the permanent exhibit of the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame on the second floor of the Blagg-Huey Library on the Denton campus. Several leaders associated with the university have been inducted into the hall of fame, including former chancellors Ann Stuart and the late Mary Evelyn Blagg Huey; retired Major General Mary Saunders, an alumna and executive director of The Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership; and Ann Williams, Distinguished Alumna and founder of the Dallas Black Dance Theatre.

Why not add more? Submissions may be made through the Governor’s Commission for Women website or the nomination form. Nominations must be submitted by noon Thursday, April 30.

“The Texas Women’s Hall of Fame pays homage to the incredible contributions that women have made to the Lone Star State,” Gov. Greg Abbott said in a press release. “These extraordinary women serve as examples for all Texans and will continue to inspire leaders in business, education, philanthropy, public service and more for generations to come. I look forward to recognizing the invaluable achievements of this year’s inductees.”
