Movie to focus on women and their finances

The Health and Wellbeing Initiative, in partnership with the TWU Student Money Management Center and Multicultural Women's and Gender Studies, is sponsoring the virtual viewing of the new documentary, $avvy, as a special pre-festival event for the Denton Black Film Festival.

The documentary investigates the historical, cultural, and societal norms around women and money. It questions why women often take a backseat to their finances and why it’s so important now more than ever for women to take control of their financial futures.

This premiere, scheduled for 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 26, will be available virtually to the entire TWU community. Students, faculty, and staff from Denton, Dallas, and the Houston campuses are invited to attend. In addition, Agatha Beins (Multicultural Women’s & Gender Studies, Denton) will serve as a discussion panelist after the film.

Contact Michelle Reeves (Health and Wellbeing Initiative) at mreeves@twu.edu or Chalese Connors (TWU Student Money Management Center) at cconnors@twu.edu if you have questions.
