Monica Mendez-Grant, EdD, vice president for Student Life at Texas Woman's University, has recently been named the recipient of the prestigious Dr. James (Jim) E. Caswell Distinguished Service Award by the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators (TACUSPA). This award is among the highest recognitions in the field of student affairs in Texas, honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to the profession.
The Dr. James (Jim) E. Caswell Distinguished Service Award is awarded to individuals who have consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, commitment, and service within student affairs. Mendez-Grant has been a dedicated member of TACUSPA for more than a decade, actively engaging with the organization to foster the growth and development of the student affairs profession. Her long-standing membership speaks to her deep commitment to student success and professional development within higher education.
At TWU, Mendez-Grant has been pivotal in creating an inclusive, student-centered campus environment, focusing on the holistic development of students and ensuring their well-being and success. Her vision and influence have shaped programs that address student needs, ranging from mental health support to leadership opportunities and student advocacy.
Mendez-Grant will be presented the award at the 2024 TACUSPA Annual Conference Sept. 29-Oct. 1 in San Marcos, Texas.
