Grand opening of Student Union at Hubbard Hall set

Mark your calendars for the grand opening of the Student Union at Hubbard Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 25. A full slate of activities will kick off at 11 a.m. and include a student toast, a live Oakley demonstration (Yes, a live owl named Oakley!), self-guided tours, dedication of the new owl statue and more.

The union is conducting a soft opening with the beginning of the spring semester. Bunsen Tea Lab and Pho U (Community Choice) opened Jan. 13, with Chick-fil-A and Qdoba Mexican Eats soon to follow. Check out the new dining options from Pioneer Kitchen.

Hubbard Hall was the dining hall for students when it opened in May 1950. In addition to four dining halls, the building contained tea rooms, parlors, a bakery, a machine shop and a laundry. The Student Union at Hubbard Hall features 100,000 square feet of renovated space and 25,000 square feet of new construction. The Denton Record-Chronicle provided a sneak peek of the changes in a Dec. 27 story.
