Pioneer Circle will be aglow in holiday cheer as the annual Festival of Lights gets underway at dusk Tuesday, Dec. 3, on the Denton campus. The free, family-friendly event begins with a program featuring art and design by the visual arts department and performances by TWU theatre, music and dance. Refreshments, caroling and numerous photo opportunities will be available, and a special appearance by Santa is scheduled.
The campus lighting will be followed by TWU’s Annual Holiday Concert at 7 p.m. in the Margo Jones Performance Hall. Tickets for the concert — featuring the TWU Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Chamber Orchestra and Wind Symphony — are $10 for general admission and $5 for students/seniors. Children ages 12 and younger will be admitted free.
The Faculty Senate and the Festival of Lights Committee sponsor the annual event. The committee, in conjunction with the TWU Food and Nutrition Network, will collect non-perishable food items for the TWU Food Pantry. Food donations may be brought to the event or placed in bins across the campus — Student Union second floor by the Student Life Office, or by the elevators in the MCL lobby, ACT first and second floors, and CFO first floor.
Volunteers also are needed to help decorate for the event and/or take the decorations down. Opportunities continue through Thursday, Dec. 5. Sign up today!
