Denton, Dallas, Houston to mark Veterans Day

The nation will mark Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11. Ceremonies in Denton, Dallas, and Houston also will honor those who served.

In Denton, the traditional ceremony on the Courthouse Square will begin at 11 a.m. Emily Romo, TWU Student Veterans Association vice president, will introduce Ambassador Chad Wick, who will speak on behalf of the university.

Faculty, staff, and students who are active duty or veterans will be offered a complimentary lunch from 11:30 to 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, at the campus Dining Hall.

Also in Denton, the Texas Veterans Hall of Fame Museum located in the Golden Triangle Mall, will host the American Veteran Traveling Tribute Wall Nov. 9-13.

In Dallas, the Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. at City Hall Plaza. The Veterans Day Ceremony at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery will start at noon on Friday, Nov. 11.

TWU’s Houston campus is displaying a Fallen Soldier Table through Veterans Day. The table, located on the second floor outside room 2305, is a highly symbolic point of remembrance observed both with Veterans Day and Memorial Day.

The city’s Veterans Day Ceremony begins at 10 a.m. Friday.
