The spring semester is awards season. Faculty, staff and student awards traditionally are presented during TWU’s Homecoming celebration — which takes place April 13-18 this year — but the nomination process starts now.
Outstanding Student Award
This award, presented by the TWU Alumni Association, recognizes undergraduates in their senior year and students at the graduate level who demonstrate the Pioneer spirit through their hard work, dedication and achievements.
To be eligible, student must be projected to graduate in May 2020 and must have achieved a minimum overall grade point average of 3.50.
Nominations for the Outstanding Student Award are due by Tuesday, Jan. 28. Contact Barbara Rogers, president of the TWU Alumni Association, at alumniassociation@twu.edu if you have any questions.
Faculty Awards
TWU faculty are invited to nominate colleagues whose teaching, research and/or service they respect and admire. Awards include the Cornaro; Mary Mason Lyon; awards for distinction in distance education, scholarship, service, and teaching; innovation in academia; and the Humphries Award for Dedication to TWU.

Nominations are due to the Office of the Executive Vice Provost by noon, Friday, Feb. 14. Call 81-3500 if you have questions.
Pauline Bishop Leman Award
The Leman Award is presented to the graduating senior or master’s student who has made “the most outstanding artistic achievement” during the school year. The student nominated does not have to be an arts major; rather the award is meant for students of varied majors who have outstanding accomplishments for their creative abilities. The award is accompanied by a $1,000 scholarship to begin master’s or doctoral study in the TWU Graduate School.
To nominate a student, follow award guidelines and submit the required information to the Office of the Executive Vice Provost by Friday, Feb. 21.
Staff Awards
Staff awards are presented to staff members who have gone above and beyond their job duties to make TWU what it is today. Awards include the TWU Award of Excellence, the Outstanding Achievement Awards and the Deborah A. Brown and Mona S. Hersch-Cochran TWU Alumni Volunteer Leadership Award.
