Computer replacement process in final phase

Texas Woman’s is at the final phase of Yearly Computer Replacements. Over the past several months, IT Solutions has been flexible and worked around the faculty/staff schedules to minimize the interruptions of their work life.

This summer, a prompt response is requested if you receive an email notification that your computer is up for replacement. The goal is to complete the process before Sept. 1.

To ensure a smooth process:

  • Backup your data and files. Everyone is responsible to maintain records or files in a location that is regularly backed up. For details, visit Computer Refresh Backup Instructions.
  • Be sure to check the department’s record retention policy before deleting university records.
  • Departments that purchase specialized software must maintain record keeping for license keys. During the computer refresh or replacement events, IT Solutions will request the license keys to reinstall the software. IT Solutions does not have access to license keys for software purchased by departments.
  • To help you with the transition, IT Solutions created a Bridge Training course: Transitioning to Laptop with a Dock

Computer replacements are necessary to ensure the university stays compliant on hardware and software that’s being fully supported. Help from faculty and staff is needed to maintain compliance and complete this critical work on schedule.
