The 2020 TWU Commencement events held at Texas Motor Speedway and HCSS were the most viewed by far in the history of events livestreamed by the university.
According to IT Solutions, the three commencement ceremonies saw a total of 20,965 livestream views. A total of 20,458 watched live, and 561 people had watched the recording as of Monday morning, Dec. 14.
Of those numbers:
- 8,434 people watched live on Friday, Dec. 11
- 9,164 people watched live on Saturday, Dec. 12
- 2,865 people watched live on Sunday, Dec. 13
In comparison, fall 2019 ceremonies combined saw a total of 5,815 livestream views, with 2,557 watching live.
The 2020 ceremonies also drew increased media coverage.

The Denton Record-Chronicle published a story on the event in its Dec. 11 issue, and the Dallas Morning News ran a photo/caption of the Saturday ceremony in its Dec. 14 issue.
Additionally, at least 46 stations in 44 other TV markets aired reports (mostly from the CBS 11 local story) on the graduation activities. Those markets include Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Seattle, Miami, Phoenix, San Antonio, Pittsburgh, Charleston, Portland (Oregon and Maine) and Oklahoma City.
