Apply now for J. Wilkes Berry Scholarship

The J. Wilkes Berry, Ph.D., Memorial Endowment Fund Scholarship is awarded to a permanent full- or part-time TWU staff member enrolled in undergraduate or graduate classes at Texas Woman’s. The scholarship, provided by the Association of Support Services Employees of Texas Woman’s University (ASSET) is awarded in the fall for the spring semester. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 29.

Membership in ASSET is not required to be awarded the scholarship. Applicants must have been employed at least three consecutive months by the start of the spring term, and must be a student in good standing if previously enrolled at TWU. Graduate assistants are not eligible for the scholarship.

To apply for the scholarship, complete the J. Wilkes Berry Scholarship application, including an essay of 250-300 words on your academic interests, professional goals and work experience. Three recommendations also must be submitted, using the J. Wilkes Berry recommendation form. Visit the ASSET site (scroll down to J. J. Wilkes Berry was with TWU for 24 years, serving in a number of roles before retiring in 2005 as associate provost. During the 2005 Honors Convocation, he received the Award for Meritorious Service, the highest honor bestowed by TWU. Berry passed away Jan. 17, 2006.
