Sarah Weddington, the attorney who argued the landmark Roe v. Wade case, passed away Dec. 26, 2021. Weddington taught as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Texas Woman’s for a number of summer sessions, and also served as an adjunct professor in the Department of History and Government. She spoke at the eponymous Sarah Weddington Centennial Leadership Conference, which brought several notable women leaders to TWU’s Denton campus in 2001. She also was guest speaker for the inaugural Jamison Lecture in 2016.
Weddington’s passing was noted in numerous publications, including The Texas Tribune and The Dallas Morning News.
