Cheryl Thaxton (nursing, Dallas) has been selected to co-chair the Pediatric Palliative Care (PCC) Task Force, which was established by the National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care.
National PPC leaders convened in 2019 and identified the need for a pediatric-specific national task force to set field strategy and build field capacity. The intent of the PPC Task Force is to improve national alignment and impact by identifying feasible action items to accelerate advancement of the field and improve children’s access to high-quality palliative care.
The PPC Task Force recently hosted its inaugural meeting, making history for establishing new interprofessional membership comprised of pediatric palliative care leaders from the coalition’s 13 member organizations, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and family advocates.
