Shannon South, a certified public accountant with more than 20 years of financial services experience — much of it in higher education — will join Texas Woman’s University as director of audit services on June 15.
South most recently served as senior director of accounting for the Collin College District and Foundation in McKinney. She previously served as the director of internal audit for Vanderbilt University, assistant director of financial services and systems for the University System of Georgia, and audit supervisor for the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts. She also served as auditor for KPMG LLP in Atlanta, where she participated in all phases of financial statement audits of companies in varied lines of business, including healthcare, information and communications, manufacturing and real estate.
South received her bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from Mercer University, graduating summa cum laude. She also graduated summa cum laude when receiving her master of accountancy degree at the University of Georgia. She has held certified public accountant status since 2002.
