School named for TWU’s Alexander

For decades, Jim Alexander has served in various teaching and administrative positions at Texas Woman’s and in public service as a Denton city councilman and Denton ISD trustee, among a plethora of other civic activities.

Soon, he’ll have a school in Cross Roads named after him. On April 14, the Denton ISD board approved naming its newest advanced technology complex in Alexander’s honor. School board members pointed to Alexander’s 30 years of service as a trustee in approving the naming feature.

The technology complex, currently under construction, will be Denton ISD’s second such facility. Alexander is an Emeritus Professor of Government at TWU. His teaching career began in 1972 at Midwestern State University. In 2008, he earned Texas Woman’s Cornaro Award, the university’s highest honor that recognizes excellence in teaching, scholarship and achievement.
