Suzanne Scheller (Nursing) and the College of Nursing – Houston Center were honored with the Vision Impact Partner (VIP) Award at the See to Succeed (STS) Partnership Luncheon, held June 29 at the historical Julia Ideson Library Reading Room in downtown Houston.

Senior undergraduate nursing students supervised by Scheller provide screening at the STS clinics throughout the school year. TWU’s College of Nursing has partnered with this public health program for 10 years.

See to Succeed, a Houston Health Department program, addresses the critical need for vision care by providing free eye exams and eyeglasses to underserved children. Launched in 2011, this public-private partnership is supported by the Houston Health Foundation and served its 100,000th child this past year. Hundreds of children and teens rotate through various stations to receive comprehensive diagnostic eye exams and free eyeglasses.
