Nursing travels to India for faculty development workshops

Brenda Moore, PhD (Director of the Center for Global Nursing at TWU) and Peggy Landrum, PhD (Houston) traveled to Eternal University, Akal College of Nursing in Baru Sahib India. Moore and Landrum participated in the “Fostering Excellence in Nursing Education and Research” collaboration between TWU and Akal College of Nursing.

During their week on campus in India, the TWU faculty conducted faculty development workshops on multiple topics, including flipped classrooms, qualitative and quantitative research, publication basics, simulation scenario design, exam construction, and the use of artificial intelligence in the university setting. Akal master’s students and senior undergraduate students participated in all workshops.

The administration, faculty, and students at Akal College of Nursing shared their culture with the TWU faculty through music, drama, poetry, and food. One of the highlights for TWU faculty was the celebration of International Women’s Day with women in villages surrounding Eternal University. The village festivities shared with students and faculty provided further opportunities for understanding local culture through arts, dance, and games.

The university and college emphasis on service and care for humankind was evident throughout the collaboration and both parties are planning future exchanges.
