Dayton Kinney, PhD (Center for Faculty Excellence) was selected as an Impulse Fellow for the 2023 Impulse New Music Fellowship Program and Festival. In addition to being selected for the fellowship due to her work as a composer, Kinney also received a commission to help cover the remaining costs as “an important way to recognize her work as an artist and talent and experience that she brings” to the music festival.

During her fellowship, Kinney will work with faculty and professionals to develop her craft and provide career guidance. Her fellowship will culminate in a professional studio recording and performance in Los Angeles. The recording also will be released on Impulse’s digital streaming concert series.
