Texas Woman’s University was mentioned in a couple of recent stories on historic events. In “Amelia Earhart’s SOS heard in the Panhandle,” which outlines the famed aviator’s connections to Texas, the author notes that Earhart’s last visit to the Lone Star State was to deliver encouraging words to students at what then was the Texas State College for Women. In an Austin American Statesman “Think, Texas” column, the Woman’s Collection at TWU is cited as a source for “Texas History: It’s not too early to salute the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment.”
