With March being Women’s History Month, it’s only fitting that some TWU-affiliated women got some recognition. Mary Evelyn Blagg Huey, the university’s first female president, was featured in a March 7 Denton County History and Culture post. (Check out the photos of Dr. Huey at the end of the article!) Texas Public Radio highlighted an effort to increase the visibility of women artists — including our own Toni LaSelle, who developed our art history program — on Wikipedia. Last but not least, The Dallas Museum of Art kicked off Women's History Month and Texas History Month by featuring a painting from Coreen Spellman, a TSCW (now TWU) alumna and faculty member who designed the brick mural on the west wall of the Patio Building.
