Danielle Phillips-Cunningham (Multicultural Women’s & Gender Studies, Denton) wrote an op-ed, “Nannie Helen Burroughs, trailblazing Black teacher and labor organizer,” that was published in the Sept. 5 issue of The Washington Post. The Labor Day column focused on how Burroughs forged career paths and jobs for Black girls during the Jim Crow era.
