Faculty/staff presentations highlighted — July-September 2024

Texas Woman's University faculty and staff extend the prestige and reputation of the university through their presentations at international, national and regional conferences. Here is a sampling of their work reported July-September 2024.

Tina L. Gumienny, PhD, presented “Characterizing the genetic and physical interaction of the DBL-1/BMP signaling pathway with BLMP-1/BLIMP1 transcription regulator in Caenorhabditis elegans” as a talk and poster presentation co-authored with TWU Biology PhD graduate M. Farhan Lakdawala, PhD, and collaborator Matt Crook, PhD (Wofford College) at the Aging, Metabolism, Stress, Pathogenesis and Small RNAs in C. elegans meeting on June 21 at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Madison, Wisc.

Angela Rodriguez Mooney, PhD, presented “Nova epistemologia sobre corpos dissidentes no cinema brasileiro” at the 106th American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese Conference (AATSP 2025) on July 1 in Portland, Ore.


Angela Rodriguez Mooney, PhD, organized the panel titled "Gender and Sexuality in Contemporary Latin American Film" and presented her paper "Trans Poetics and Defiance in Linn da Quebrada's 'Bixa Travesty'" at the LASA2024 Congress. The congress took place from June 12 to 15 in Bogota, Colombia.
