Johnathan Smilges’ (English, Speech and Foreign Languages) dissertation, “Queer Silence: Rhetorics of Resistance,” has won the President’s Dissertation Award from the Coalition of Feminist Scholars in the History of Rhetoric and Composition, the premier organization of feminist rhetoricians.
The President’s Dissertation Award is presented biennially to the “doctoral dissertation that makes an outstanding contribution to our understanding of feminist histories, theories, and pedagogies of rhetoric and composition.”
